Barack Obama, Illinois State Senator, was the first African-American to be nominated for president by a major political party. Obama has said that his focus as president will be to tackle the challenges presented by a globalized, 21st century world. He believes that fresh thinking and a change in existing policies and laws could be the answer to many of today’s issues. A graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law, Obama has been campaigning for change from the community level all the way to the United States Senate.

Obama is passionate about those issues that affect not only America but the world at large. He hopes to find common ground among the people and challenge the status quo of long held beliefs and existing political systems. Obama has stated that in order to unite the people, the divisiveness between parties must change and both parties must work together for the good of the people.
Not only is Barack Obama active in politics, but he is also the author of two best-selling books. Obama has also taken part in many community and faith-based activities throughout his life. He and his wife, Michelle, live on Chicago’s South Side with their two daughters.
